Writ

Write the call down before you know how it ends.

Writ is a decision journal for iPhone and iPad. You log the decision, the options you see, and how sure you are. On the date you pick, it asks what actually happened. Then it shows you the gap.

In TestFlight now. Coming to the App Store.

How it works

Three steps. One of them is waiting.

  1. 01

    Log the call

Write what you are deciding and the options you see. Give each option a probability. Say how sure you are, how big the call is, and what state of mind you are in.

  2. 02

    Set the review date

Pick the day you want to be asked about it. Writ reminds you then, so hindsight arrives as an appointment instead of an ambush.

  3. 03

    Say what happened

Rate the outcome, mark which option played out, and write a short note. Writ sets that against what you predicted.

Why it works

Memory is a flattering witness.

Once you know how something ended, you remember seeing it coming. Hindsight quietly rewrites the reasoning, the odds, even the options you weighed. A dated record written before the outcome is the only defence. Writ keeps one figure on every review.

confidence − outcome = gap

  • PositiveYou were surer than events turned out to justify.
  • NegativeYou sold yourself short and knew more than you claimed.
  • Near zeroYour word was good. That is the target.

Over enough entries the figure stops being noise and starts being a pattern. Writ also splits it by stakes, by tag, and by the state of mind you were in.

Questions

Answered plainly.

When does it launch?

Writ is in TestFlight now and the App Store release follows. We are not naming a date we would have to revise later, which would be an odd habit for this particular app.

Why probabilities instead of notes?

Probably is not a number. Writing 60% where you would have said probably makes the options compete, and it gives you a figure you can check against what happened. A forecast vague enough to never be wrong is also vague enough to never teach you anything.

What happens when a review comes due?

A notification arrives on the date you set. You record what happened, mark which of your options occurred, rate the outcome, write a short reflection, and say whether your tripwire fired. Writ then shows your confidence next to the result. It takes a few minutes, and it is the part that does the teaching.

What happens if I never pay?

You keep a journal of five decisions, free, with your running totals, the calibration chart, and the tag breakdown. Nothing you wrote is ever taken away or hidden. At five you can still read and review everything, you just cannot enter a sixth until you go Pro. Delete one and the slot comes back.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later. That is the whole list.

Can I get my records out?

Yes. Pro exports a PDF report or a CSV of every decision, shared from the device through the ordinary iOS share sheet. They are ordinary files, and they are yours.
